The vineyard

The work of the vine

Our philosophy, respect for the traditions of the past combined with the material means of today. Maintaining our landscape in the rules of art with passion is the strength of our profession.

All year round, the winemaker is at work, it starts with pruning, binding in winter and then comes the maintenance of the soil, the planting work, the disbudding in spring. The picking and topping are carried out until summer. Barely finished, and it is already the time of the harvest.

In the early 1990s, we were in the pioneering fields to get into reasoned agriculture. This new method, for the time, is based on the mastery of diseases of the vine. Treatments are no longer systematic but only when necessary. The principle is to establish a threshold of harm for each pest below which no action is taken. For this, we carefully and regularly check each plot of vines. This method has allowed us to establish an autonomous regulating ecosystem. For about ten years, insecticides are no longer used on the estate. For downy mildew and powdery mildew, which are cryptogamic diseases, the weather has much more influence. With increased knowledge of their modes of operation, we have succeeded in drastically reducing interventions. With the emergence of biocontrol products today, the impact on the environment is still minimized.

Biocontrol is a set of plant protection methods based on the use of natural mechanisms. The principle is based on managing the population balances of aggressors rather than eradicating them. They act on the stimulation of the natural defenses of plants.

For example, to fight against powdery mildew, another non-pathogenic fungus is inoculated that will colonize the environment thus preventing Erysiphe Necator (powdery mildew) from developing.

«War between mushrooms is declared».

Since 2020, we have been certified: High Environmental Value.

The High Environmental Value

A response to a major agricultural challenge

The High Environmental Value corresponds to the highest level of an environmental certification scheme for agricultural holdings. It is based on indicators and a requirement for results covering the entire operation. It is based on four key themes :

The preservation of biodiversity
The plant health strategy
The management of fertilisation
Management of water resources

The pressure of agricultural practices on the environment is minimized. The HVE meets the need expressed in the work of the Grenelle de l’Environnement to recognize farms engaged in particularly respectful approaches. It is based on agro-ecology.

Qualified in reasoned agriculture since 2006, the transition was made smoothly on the Domain.

Concretely, what are our commitments?

  • Preserve birds, insects, bees… by maintaining hedges, groves, grass strips, and setting up fallow.
  • Manage the phytosanitary strategy through the use of bio-control products that are stimulators of the natural defenses of plants.
  • Maintain the floors only by mechanical means thus eliminating the use of herbicides.
  • Use organic amendments to promote soil microbial life. Set up a plant cover (green fertilizer) thus naturally providing nutrients for the life of the vine.
  • Manage our effluents autonomously with our own sewage treatment plant.

This label is in perfect harmony with our values for agriculture that is autonomous, responsible, respectful of soil, water and air.
